Caffè Mauro was started by Demetrio Mauro in 1949 in Reggio Calabria using a small 20kg coffee roasting machine, which in just a few short years was roasting over 300kg of coffee a day!
But why is Caffè Mauro a brand to admire apart from its coffee volumes? It was one of the first brands to package coffee for sale, at a time when coffee was sold loose. And by packaging coffee, it was then sold in shops and supermarkets, where it had to eventually compete with other products and brands. This is where the packaging was made colourful and vibrant, to stand out, making Caffè Mauro a disruptor in the 60's.
As for the coffee, Caffè Mauro emphasises that it roasts coffee using a 'slow roasting method' to ensure quality and flavour, using high-grade coffee from Brazil, Africa, Central America and Asia.
